Bellfield finally confirms what I long suspected

Meanwhile and innocent man has been languishing in jail all these years. No amount of compensation will give him back those stolen years.

Oh blimey! How have they managed to convict the wrong person? He always unnerves me, as I worked for him and his wife/girlfriend (can't remember now), in homecare many years ago.
Is he being truthful, though?
At the moment it is just the word of a convicted killer. Not really reliable evidence.

Stone has twice been convicted so this will have to be looked into a lot more before we can say what is true and what isnt.
Michael Stone's conviction seems to have rested entirely on a confession he is said to have shouted through his cell window while he was on remand.
That seems very unlikely.
That must have been a very quick trial then Sandy.
If he has given accurate details of how he murdered them which have not been disclosed to the public then his confession must be true. I hope so anyway for the family's sake so they can get some closure.

How reliable are lie-detector tests and can they be used in such cases as these?

The only eye witness was the surviving child. She described a man far taller than stone - man of Bellfield's height.

I've long believed Stone is innocent and Bellfield to be the real culprit.
He was extremely weird. Without wishing to disrespect confidentiality of an elderly lady, who has long since died, I googled, and it was in the news....

His mum lived in a nursing bed- in outside stables at a livery yard. Many carers refused to go to them. I wouldn't put anything past him. Irrelevant here, I know. But, my sister was always wary of him.
Lie detector tests are not reliable thats why they are not used in Court. They can give an indication but thats it.

Unfortunately some poor plod will have to sift through it all and see what is true.

trigger, not necessarily. Has he been in contact with Stone over the years?
//If he has given accurate details of how he murdered them which have not been disclosed to the public then his confession must be true.//

Likely but not 100%. He could for instance have got details from another inmate who did know. Either way it needs investigating thoroughly before any decision can be made.
Pixie, those outside stables had been converted in to living accommodation before they moved in.
/Is he being truthful, though?/

My immediate reaction. It just doesn't feel right, but I can't explain why.
My understanding of this is that his former partner who first drew the police’s attention to him in connection with the French young lady’s murder was that she actually gave him an alibi for that day. I’m sure she would have said if there was any doubt. She has been extremely helpful to the police.
The Met Police have said that they have yet to see any evidence to support Bellfield's claim.

They won't be busting a gut to admit they got it wrong, Danny, if they put an innocent man behind bars.
Lady CG, I understand that they won't be in a hurry to admit that they were wrong. However, why has Bellfield suddenly come forward with this admission after so long a time? He has nothing to gain or lose so is he just mischief making?
Can we trust an untrustworthy man to be telling the truth?
We can't. He must be bored silly and could be looking to make mischief. Time will tell
Actually this case has two untrustworthy men making claims. Michael Stone has a long criminal recordt and nobody believed his claims of innocence.
