These places were created by Russia to destabilise Ukraine and violate its territory.
What’s bad about it is: firstly that it gives Putin an excuse as he sees it to send in troops openly whereas previously he did it surreptitiously.
But more seriously, it’s another step in his plan. One thing leading to another

//150 years ago the UK flooded Ireland with Protestant Scots and eventually the whole of the Northern counties had a pro-protestant/pro Uk populations.//
More lies and misinformation on a "truth" ensured site.
There was, in 1606, an independent Scottish settlement in east Down and Antrim. It was led by adventurers James Hamilton and Sir Hugh Montgomery, two Ayrshire lairds. There was another major influx of Scots into northern Ireland which occurred in the late 1690s, when tens of thousands of people fled a famine in Scotland to migrate to Ulster. Perhaps the UK that Gromit misleadingly references is the Ulster Plantation, a colonisation plan devised by James VI of Scotland. The Uk was founded in 1707 James VI of Scotland and I of England died in 1625. You need to be British though to understand this stuff.

ichkeria,
That is probably because I post some posts you agree with, and some posts you don’t.
The Northern Ireland and Ukraine analogy fits perfectly.
The outside dominant power floods the neighbouring country with citizens pro to the motherland, and when they get worried goes into those regions to protect the newly installed population to the detriment of those who have lived there for centuries.
