All that Corbyn seems to have done is to oppose the expansion of NATO. Many politicians, of all political shades, across the world have adopted a similar stance in the past, including Donald Trump!

He didn't just want to stop NATO expansion, he wanted to shrink it considerably by pulling the US out of it.
No wonder the Russians meddled to try and get him elected.

I don’t think Trump wanted to pull the US out of NATO.
But with Corbyn, and Trump and Macron claiming NATO to be brain dead, not to mention Afghanistan, no wonder Putin may have felt he had little to worry about

The really iniquitous thing about Corbyn and his ilk is their putting NATO on an equal moral footing with Russia.
That argument was always fatuous but it’s shot to pieces now

He was quite right to do so.
But like I explained, that isn't the point.
His public statements on NATO would have sent all the wrong signals - to the west and NATO actually as well as to Russia, because I don't believe for one moment Trump was ever going to pull the US out of NATO

Trump normally means what he says, however ridiculous ( e.g I'll ignore the election result unless I win ) so I wouldn't take the threat to leave NATO lightly.

He's no fan of Ukraine either of course, having tried to bribe them to get some dirt on Joe Biden's son and failing.

Trump, in his own bluff way, was trying to get the EUSSR countries, the main beneficiaries of the protection afforded by NATO, to stump up their fair share of the costs. Germany in particular, the reason that NATO was needed in the first place, was in bed with Putin. Buying gas from him and his cronies, and selling it on at vast profit, and doing less than nothing to dissuade his agressive intent(see Crimea). Remember ... Merkell was straight out of the USSR from East Germany. No doubt still under the control of the commie funnies. Corby was too dim to be dangerous, but dangerous enough to create the necessary distractions for the real events to take place. Brexit screwed up the well laid plans hatched in Germany and incubated by the (still) vichy French.
