Brave woman!
There are worse things than jail in Russia.
Apparently TASS reported it as a "misdemeanour".
the laugh is that the average Russian is not stupid and the pressure is building inside their joe-public 'champagne bottle' is shortly to explode - the question being how does this play out?
Just seen on the BBC website she was an editor on the programme.
Wont be seeing her ever again.
Incredible courage! Compared to her, Putin, suited & warm in safety while condemning thousands to misery & death is a weedy sick little coward.
I hope her bravery will be an incentive for others to find their own individual ways follow her example.
If she helps hasten the end of the regime, perhaps her time in jail will be shortened.

I had to check that this tweet wasn’t a fake when I first saw it …

What impact it will have one can’t say.
It’ll need a few more Marina Ovsyannikovas I think
doubt if she will shorten the regime somehow, on the news this morning, it said that up to 14 thousand are now in custody.

Have you ever been in a Russian jail?

I’ve been reading about the treatment meted out to many of the arrestees.

A regime that rests its own people so and lies to them is rotten to the core and will ultimately implode.
All this has burst the myth that Russians and Ukrainians are “one people”.
In a terribly perverse way Putin has strengthened Ukraine’s nationhood. The so called Russians in E Ukraine who once respected him now hate him. As indeed they have increasingly for years now. It’s a pity it’s taken this war for that fact to get through
No, Khandro, what's it like?
Question Author
Not too many worse options indeed khandro is correct
First heard this on the the news on the radio last night .

Instantly , my thoughts were that she will end up in a facility in Siberia
I agree with YMB - Her fate is sealed .

Very brave of her - it takes courage to do what she did , when she knows what will happen to her and more than likely her family as well .

What a very sad indictment of human beings .
She'll have plenty of company.

//A total of 12,700 people have been detained in Russia over the last 13 days during anti-war protests, the UN has confirmed. //

If the Russian people aren't aware of what's going on now, with people disappearing in these numbers they'll soon begin to ask questions.
No mention of 'many' until now, simply 'worse things'.

The other day a woman was arrested for holding up a blank piece of paper.
Another woman was explaining that she supported the war and she was arrested also! It’s like a zombie reaction by the OMON
It is illegal to refer to the Ukraine conflict as a war in Russia.
They call it a ‘Special Military Operation’ by ‘Peacekeepers’.

Anyone not using these terms and calling it a war can be imprisoned for 15 years.
