It took the jury 18 minutes to find him guilty. The tax payer will now have to keep him for the rest of his life.Surely a lethal injection would be more appropriate.
I'm all for the Saddam Shuffle for these sorts of lowlife but that's mainly because I think the jail will be too comfy. Now bung in a proper nick doing hard labour on bread and water and i'm starting to come round to the idea. As it stands he'll probably get an apartment like the Pan am bomber and have his Khazi moved to not face Mecca, weekly visits from the Lord Longford types etc.
// Peter Pedant these fanatics ....needs to be done to curb this radicalisation. //
sure do
I wrote to Mark Rowley as a arabic speaker at the prodding of some arab colleagues
https://rusi.org/people/rowley
telling him his pet anti terrorist project was truly crap and
( the arabs cd tell me and him exactly why)
and wouldnt work
and he wrote back to say no it wasnt ( crap ) - it was very good his white friends had told him
These fanatics are having a real effect on the British way of life Sp1814 and need to be made aware that there is a real price to pay for their murderous acts.
What is the purpose of a "horrific" proposition? Is it pure revenge? I can't imagine it will teach him anything, mean justice or make any difference to the victims. Euthanasia would be effective and without lowering actual civilised people.
I don't for a moment think that a death penalty would make any difference. Indeed, it may lay grounds for the *opposite* effect - martydom.
ladybirder - I see what you mean. To clarify, in his OP grumpy01 asked whether "a lethal injection would be more appropriate" than the sentence handed down. I was saying that as I don't agree with the death penalty, then I don't think a lethal injection would be more appropriate.
Long term prisons are far different to short term and if you are of a minority you will get different treatment, especially in the food side of things.
Our prisons are not really that harsh, we should fund Turkey, Mexico or Thailand to house some of ours, now there's a real prison.
"we should fund Turkey, Mexico or Thailand to house some of ours, now there's a real prison."
I *was* going to poo-poo that idea but then I realised it could be the basis of a pretty decent high budget thriller set in 2049, say starring Jason Statham as a wrongly convicted man who has to escape from a prison boat to to prove his innocence before arriving in Thailand.
Think I'll get on the screenplay right away.
Thank you for the idea.
(and no...you won't get any royalties when I sell it to MGM).
