Just heard him say on BBC news (re Johnson) that Chamberlain stood down 'just days before the Second World War'. That comes as news to us who thought he was PM between the start of war, on September 8, 1939, and the May 8 (Norway debate) in 1940. Lammy is an idiot.

No. Don't quote wartime references unless you have managed to read a few books and have some kind of knowledge retention. I wasn't around either.

What actually was the context of the statement Paign? If he was comparing that to the potential of Boris stepping down, it really is a different scenario. Chamberlain had been diagnosed with the cancer which had killed him before the end of 1940.

I feel sorry for Boris being fined for going to a party that he didn’t even realise he attended.
In the 60s people blamed strong drugs for their forgetfulness. Not sure what Boris’ excuse is.

just as well we have a Home Secretary who can count up to three hundred thousand and thirty four, nine hundred and seventy four thousand, it would be a shame if nobody in the government was perfect.

For the record, war was declared on September 3. Chamberlain resigned on May 10.
