... so we've spent a fortnight in hysterics for a 9 minute 6 person gathering on the PM's Birthday, that by the law at the time was probably legal. Still good job there's nothing really important going on in the world....hang on!

I would love to know what they were for but for some reason I don't belive you said. I certainly would not accept a legal punishment for something I didn't do. What were those fpn for ttt?

webbo3 - I did not see the interview, but the link you posted was to the Express and it was their writer who said Starmer squirmed.
My point was really that the various newspapers have their agendas, whether it is right or left leaning, or blatantly anti Scottish independence, (not that I am in favour of that.)

The fine was £50 which is piddling. The Met must also think its piddling but all concerned thought give the baying masses something. I can only assume that all those angry at Boris were not keyworkers during the pandemic. It's £150 if you're caught dropping a fag end by the way. £50 must be the minimum
Not sure why Starmer would squirm.
// Durham Constabulary has reviewed video footage recorded in Durham on April 30 2021,” a spokesman for the force said in a statement.
“We do not believe an offence has been established in relation to the legislation and guidance in place at the time and will therefore take no further action in relation to this matter.” //

// Richard Holden, Tory MP for North West Durham, has written to Durham’s Chief Constable Jo Farrell.
Mr Holden has urged her to look again at the decision to take no further action against Sir Keir.
He said there was a strong public interest in reassessing Sir Keir Starmer’s case.//
Strangely enough the "national broadcaster" has not joined the clamour.

The rules must vary then, I work in defence, many of us were in work everyday. Sitting 2 meters apart in meetings, facemasks worn if you were meeting with staff not in your 'work bubble'. Cakes brought in on birthdays, snacks etc at Christmas. Maybe we should all have been fined but understood we were well within Govt guidelines at the time.
//Naomi there are still rules in government offices, no face to face meetings, no lunches and no sitting together//
Why? You can go to the pub, you can go to a restaurant, you can go to a football match. In fact, you can go where you like with whom you like and do what you like. What’s so special about government offices? Are they hotbeds of disease and pestilence? Or is it just part of the strategy to get WFH a permanent feature?

even more now i wonder if ttt and gulliver are the same poster, just banging different ends of the same drum. Gulliver goes all coy and quiet if he has a question he doesn't want to answer too.
i still fnd it utterly astonishing that you can bring booze into work at number 10. I have worked for 35 years and no-where i worked would have allowed that
