However, Ukrainian defence sources appeared to be reporting it so that suggested it was true

I had a grim smile when I saw them putting Russian road signs up in Mariupol: 10 weeks, thousands dead, displaced, terrified, “filtrated”, kidnapped, deported, evacuated, the city destroyed:

Yesterday Ukraine announced a new “offensive” stage of the war with counter attacks to north and south.
Six more villages in Kharkiv oblast liberated.
A long way to go but there’s a feeling in some quarters that if Kherson falls Crimea might not be far behind.
Looks like the news about the Makarov is true, which would be terrific. There had been several drone strikes around Snake Island in the previous days:
