It's said that Hitler meddling with the decisions of his senior officers hindered the Nazi war effort.
There was a report on the wireless this morning that Putin is going to take a closer role in the direction of the Russian forces who have invaded Ukraine.
If this happens can it be anything other than a good thing for the Ukrainian defenders?

Who knows dare history den?

The parallel I would make is Tsar Nicholas taking over direct command in 1917 - and sealing his fate - - - he was gonna
DDDIIIIIIEEEEEE ! if he failed which he did
He couldn't really make a bigger hash of the whole situation now, could he.
Had to look twice, then. Thought it said 'genitals' :-)
A wireless¡!!!!!!!!! What dat den??

There is also the chance that if he gets up close and personal with the action one of his soldiers might shoot him.
Any day now Putin is going to get married to a well known ***(as Hitler did)and then put a bullet through his brain(as Hitler did).Cant come soon enough.
***=erohw(anagram).
I hope the closer role means he will actually go to where the fighting is to see the destruction he has unleashed - so far he has hidden himself within the safety of the kremlin.
I sent him, addressed to the Kremlin, over a month ago a postcard I made with the picture of a white feather on a black ground, on the reverse I wrote, 'Coward & murderer' in Russian.
Of course he won't have seen it (because I haven't been novichoked yet) but someone will have.
I just can't see Putin surviving much longer.
Nice one Khandro.
bad sight day Ken
because of ynni anagram - erohw
I thought Putin....
was - - he's putting it around....
o god time for coffee

High flyers in London are crack-a-hoop ( geddit?) that Putin is micro-managing ( is that military?) because it means their campaign will fall apart
yes, Stalin left his surviving generals to get on with it, and won. Hitler interfered and lost.

How involved was Churchill in the military?
yes jno, why not see if we can find something to be anti British about eh?
???

I asked a question to which I do not know the answer. Do you?
Question Author
After Gallipoli, and much later the Dieppe Raid, Churchill must surely have seen the wisdom of the old adage, The Shoemaker should stick to his last.
Nice one khandro from me, too
I don't know if you look at the MFA (Russia) twitter account.
I believe the expression "pelters" is the expression that most aptly describe the abuse they get there :-)
You wonder why they bother, especailly as presumably none of their fan boys at home can access it ...
And the trolls presumably are too busy pestering everyone else
// Stalin left his surviving generals to get on with it,//
yeah some were even hooked out of a gulag given a uniform and taken to the Front!

makes a good story - Zhukov I think

TTT /jno
I think it was Alan Clarke who was invited to lecture on the war as he wished and suggested
Churchill - terrible war leader, great peace time politician

terrible war mistakes
Gallipoli of course - early start 1915 (*)
Dieppe
Invasion of Italy
betrayal of Yalta 1945 ( The naughty document etc, enslaving the East to Stalin) (+)
Oh of course, failing to bomb the death camps

Civil triumphs I hesitate to say return to gold standard 1931. (-)Sidney St Siege ( minor)

(*) for the POWs this mistake created see
The Road to En-dor: A True Story of Cunning Wartime Escape Paperback – Illustrated, 28 Feb. 2014
(+) for the POWs who were central to this see
Despite captivity : a doctor's life as prisoner of war / John Borrie. Borrie is an RAMC POW and is invited to inspect graves of Poles the Nazis have discovered in some reconquered lands ( Katyn). MI5 forbids it - how? he is a POW for chrissakes
How involved was Churchill in the military?

he got thro his generals - lose a battle and that was it.
after the first Battle of Alamein ( Ritchie got the bullet that time) he asked " have I no general who win a battle? "

so I dont thnk Churchill interfered militarily
Lloyd George ( who ws not Churchill - this is AB remember) LIED about allied strength to his generals ( what?) because he thought they were 'wasting' the tommies
who can win a battle
god sozza
I did get English O level
Churchill had a bad WW1 - Dardanelles, Gallipoli, but a good WWII by inspiring Britain. He wasn't entirely responsible for the former, but he shone in the latter.
Putin couldn't inspire anyone to anything, he's a coward & a thug.
We can but hope.

Nice one Khandro, hopefully a few have also sent him a turd in the post too.

Putin is an ex KGB Gangster. He is no military strategist.

Jno, I see you didnt ask anything about other World leaders. We know what you do, you have done it too often.
