well as long as there's nothing more important going on....
When someone is risking their life for their country the least that country can do is accept them for what they are and let them live their lives as they like.

From the link:
"Homosexuality is not illegal in Ukraine, but same-sex marriages and civil partnerships are not recognised.
This has caused particular problems for LGBT people signing up for the military following Russia's invasion.
For example, under Ukrainian law if someone in a same-sex relationship dies, their partner cannot collect their body or bury them."

Hence my comment
Hmm, they need to be careful. Things like this need to move slowly so acceptance is gradually gained.

Moving too fast could alienate the many for the sake of the few and that would please Putin no end.

Not sure I can see Putin getting much change out of perceived anti-LGBTQ feeling in Ukraine somehow.

I did like the caption attached to a picture of a rainbow over Moscow:

"The West launches LGBTQ missile at Russia" :-)
No, he will use it as propaganda amongst Russians.

You know the sort of thing, "This what you want?" Russians arent particularly known for their 'tolerance'
Let them marry. It hurts no one, and will put more Russian noses out of joint.
Question Author
Well considering he is telling everyone Ukrainains are nazis and God knows what else I don't think internal propaganda matters.
Putin wants to annihilate the Ukrainian state and I'm afraid to say that many Russians no not share the idea popular esp in the west at the start that Russians would be reluctant to fire on "brother Slavs".
Russians generally - those that think about such things - hate that Ukrainian as an ethnicity pre-dates Russian by centuries. Most would let that go as fundamentally it doesn't matter now, but ...
It’s a complicated matter in the middle of war. Perhaps it would suffice to rush something through giving everyone the option to nominate someone other than their next of kin to inherit and deal with their affairs. That would solve the problem for gay partnerships and anyone else who would prefer it - say friends sharing their lives - at least for the time being.
Who gives a monkey's? It shouldn't be news.
A bit of good news from Ukraine . :-)
Get over yourselves. No-one gives a damn anymore where someone puts their willy or pussy.
Paigntonian, it’s not about that. It’s about, among other things, loved ones collecting the war dead for burial.
Well, I'm surprised that last word got past the censor. As Naomi said, it's about recognising the rights of loved ones, which currently are non-existent.

The Ukraine war has started to fade from the news programmes now, if this reminds people that it's still ongoing, it's serving a second purpose.
Naomi: Are you really saying that a deceased's loved-one in the Ukraine can't organise a funeral, cremation , or burial? It's nonsense.

Try reading the link paigntonian

Or at least the bit I quoted
While the Russians are inflicting the most terrible acts on Ukraine, rape, slaughter, torture, you're worrying about a perceived lack of gay rights. Staggering.
*** gay rights for the minute and worry about the bigger picture.
No, I’m not saying that. If you’re married, your wife is the first in line when it comes to dealing with your affairs and making decisions in your behalf. All gay couples want is the same consideration. I don’t see a problem with that. Do you?

Like I say paigntonian: read the link:
It’s come to this for practical reasons.
Ukraine is not a hotbed if LGBTQ activism it’s fair to say
