rishi and truss bunk off
perhaps their doo-dahs have said that it is not impressing anyone
how many flipping debates do they have to have?
I dont really even get why they are having any - it's not like they have to convince the country, only the CP

bednobs, I agree, they're having national televised debates yet its only gong to be about 150,000 tory members that have a vote on the outcome!!
are we supposed to believe that all these contenders will successfully work together once this debacle is over?
They're not running scared - they've probably realised how ridiculous they're all making themselves. What a shambles!
Perhaps if they come across well to the viewing public, it might help sway a few votes their way from their colleagues? And, of course, vice-versa.
They are said to be worried about the damage done to the party. I think they are right to worry.
no, I don't think so. The whole sheet show is a pointless bun fight. I hate these US style "debates" anyway but I can see there may be some merit if the public were voting. The public are not voting in this, we have hustings events for the party that will. I'm supporting Mordaunt but I agree with cancelling it. It has no merit, after all this they are going to have to work together and all it does is party damage.
//They are said to be worried about the damage done to the party. I think they are right to worry. //

Too late to worry about that. They should have thought before they did what they did about the damage they were doing to the party.
agree with naomi - last night's 'debate' was awful....
all the same, bednobs, it gives us a look at our next leader (whoever he/she/it is). Even just for Tory members, it airs the disagreements in party ranks - though not very helpfully, as it turns out.
If these two cannot handle a debate, how they gonna cope with the premiership???
Ah the left are out in force.

Well, you dont have a vote so these TV 'reality shows' are a total waste of time. They are a waste of time at any point but for internal votes, well...
Could the debates have been done on Zoom? The candidates aren't looking to influence the entire electorate, just party members.
"Ah the left are out in force"
i would never have labelled TTT and naomi as left
Maybe the bulk off party members don't do ZOOM.

I don't want a Lab gov or some cobbled up coalition but it will serve these divvies right if that's what we end up with. Difficult to see how any of them can now count on total support from the party.
As said - they deserve what they'll get. Shoulda stuck with BJ.
As has been stated many times by many people. 'You will regret hugely what you have done.'
have they actually said why they are pulling out?
Perhaps they are just following their own government's advice (for a change?) to "change working practices" because of the predicted weather?

Sky are saying Truss and Sunak pulled out:
