............was the impression I got when the Tory MPs applauded Johnson out of the commons yesterday. I can only assume that the applause was relief at finally getting rid of him. Can't think of any other reason to applaud him.

Curious how Blair, who took us into an illegal war as Bush's lapdog and was ultimately responsible for the death of British service personnel, was clapped by the whole house, but BJ wasn't.
BJ may have been liberal with the truth at times, but he didn't commit us to a war we had no right to be in.

It is standard behaviour though when anyone leaves anywhere to be falsely nice. Just the same as dead people who become unrecognisable paragons at their funeral eulogies.
Whatever Boris' faults he has more charisma and leadership qualities in his little finger than any of the potential replacements. I think some in the party will come to regre what's happened.

Even though your fast bowler has sent the opening batsman back to the pavilion, if he is now bowling rubbish and is being hit all over the ground.......he must be taken off. This is what happened to Boris and if you want to call it "back stabbing" then be my guest.
To end up ,on your final speech to the house with "Hasta La Vista ..Baby" is just unstatesmanlike and rather immature........as politics has become today.
