I was delighted to see this report on the news last night. One of the RAF pilots says he inspires him to do his job. He was such a hero

.....and a Hurricane pilot, that doesn't get the accolade it deserves. More Luftwafe planes were downed by Hurricanes than by Spitfires.

Quite so, Sqad. The Mail says he was shot down 5 times but the report from Ireland says his log book shows he was downed twice. What a brave man and if he is the sole survivor he should be honoured as such.

Makes me proud to be Irish :) he was an amazing man to think he was shot down and went back again for more, the RAF pilot yesterday says flying that Hurricane bomber is like a gym workout. Ireland was neutral but thousands of Irish men and women left to fight the war

Every year on 15 September I watch the film the Battle of Britain, the credits of which are amazing. I admit it brings a lump to my throat, when viewing the pilots of the partaking nations, that there was just one Israeli. It always serves to remind me how much this country owes to so few.
