Something needs to be done about knife crime. I thought they were going to get tough but seems they were hollow words.

Possession of a knife - min 5years (including timeoff rubbish)first offence, add 5 each subsequent
Using a knife - min 10 years, doubling every further incident.
Killing with a knife Whole life no minimum (or strung up).

The maximum sentence for possession of a knife is 4 years so the law is not that far off but the sentences are usually more lenient.
I really want all first time offenders locked up for carrying a knife or any bladed weapon without lawful reason but worry that this would lead to an increase in gun crime or the use of other weapons.

I'm reminded of the little girl who was stabbed in Liverpool late last year. Half witted kids carrying knives because they think that makes them 'hard men'
This case will likely turn out to be the same.

Likely that another child has done this rather than a stranger. Or someone mentally ill.

A nine year old child is dead because she was stabbed. What exactly do you want to wait for?

sadly no real deterrent, being put in prison should make you afraid and not want to go there, to some it's a badge of honor, got me stripes..aint i ard, plus they learn how to be better criminals inside.
bring back the death penalty and chain gangs, and having to bunk up with bubba...

Apparently she was a Lithuanian immigrant. There might be a racial motive ?
Be interesting to see if the alleged killers are named, and what their ethnicity is.
