I think the BBC can generally be seen as reputable.
Says it all Loosehead.
Beats me how anyone can be pro europe especially in the face of this.
Can only be blind faith or perhaps they beleive that if they support it they too will get the chance to have their nose in the trough too.
Havn't we seen this sort of blind faith in leaders before in Europe ? (No Thatcher hater comments, I said europe not GREAT Britain)
I keep telling ya, it's the national governments which are responsible for EU expenditure. Corruption comes from the ground up (e.g. bullsh*tting farmers), not from the top. For another reputable viewpoint, see:

Well it's all relative GB but I used them precisely because they normally are pro EU and even they are reporting the truth so I thought the Europhiles would find it harder to cry "cobblers"!
Although the causes of corruption are various and debatable I think all sides agree that what MrsT was asking is in fact true.
The EU is like one those castles you make out of a pack of cards.
Looks fine from a distance, but there is no foundation, and move one card and the lot collpases to the ground.
What does it gain anyone (except the Poles) to allow a poor country like Poland to enter and then allow any of their population to come here and earn a living.
And now they are thinking of letting Turkey in.
And Romania have asked to join. Great, loads more people here doing credit card scams.
I can just see the headline in 10 years time:
Paraguay and Chile ask to join EU.
The whole EU thing is a SHAM and a SCAM and the sooner the pack of cards collapses the better.
You euro sceptics are bonkers - the rest of Europe laugh at us because we are so backward - everyone is clammering to get involved because they see the benefits it can bring yet you lot just sit here at the edge and expect the rest of the world to revolve around us.
Wake up! Europe is not going to go away and the more we resist it the further behind we are going to be left.
Well Gary what benefits do we get that we couldn't get simply by trading agreements and general cooperation. You don't have give up control of your country to cooperate with each other.
We're all loonies because we disagree with you are we. We might be more enthusiastic about the EU if it occasionally meant we didn't get shafted by it.
The rest of Europe isn't laughing mate they're ******** themselves in case we leave and stop paying for their attempts at socialism.
Much of the regeneration projects that we had in the late 80's and throughout the 90's came from European money. Even today many big public projects, urban regeneration and job creation is supported with European money. Its not a one way street you know.
To be honest i'm sure most Eurpoeans would be glad to see the back of us if we did leave but they aren't as petty and childish as us - and more keen on a united Europe having been ripped apart by WW2.

I am pro-European because Europe has produced thousands of years of culture, art, architecture, civilisation, history, technology and civilisation. I am therefore against the EU, which is wasteful, corrupt, undemocratic, and unaccountable. It is the EU itself which is "anti-European" because it has been strangling the nations and peoples and economy of Europe with inefficiency and regulatuion and interference.

It was great to see Tony berating those UKIP loonies (now they are real loonies - stuck in some rose tinted past when Britain still had an empire and all that Dunkirk spirit rubbish and who claim to despise Europe [1] but seem glad to turn up and claim expenses[2]) As he said "This is 2005 not 1945". 2. They turn up and claim expenses because they were elected to do so, they were mandated to do so, and they promised to do so before the election. I would not have wanted to vote for an abstentionist party. Their job is to oppose centralising measures, get information, educate the people about the reality of what is happening, and destroy the rotten structure of the EU from within. The way to derail a juggernaut is with political dynamite, not by staying at home and hoping it will go away.
3. Quite right. In 1945, no British government would have dreamt of giving away 1 billion per year to an undemocratic and wasteful foreign power in return for nothing.
4. If being in favour of democracy, accountability and national sovereignty is your definition of "bonkers" then I am proud to be bonkers - as well as being a loony lefty liberal.
5. It brings benefits for other countries because we in the UK pay to subsidise inefficient farmers in France and Poland.
6. No I don't. I want a free trade internationalist Europe with co-operation and diversity - i.e. exactly what the EU does not give.
7. I should hope not!!! I don't want to have to emigrate to America or Asia.
8. Like Norway and Switzerland are left behind, you mean?
Much of the regeneration projects that we had in the late 80's and throughout the 90's came from European money.[9] Even today many big public projects, urban regeneration and job creation is supported with European money. [10]

9 and 10. Where on Earth do you think "European money" is coming from? Every 1 that the EU spends on projects in the UK is matched by 2 that the UK taxpayers gave to the EU in the first place. Where did the other 1 go to? I want it back again, so that our own national government in the UK can spend it on the UK, instead of giving it away to France and Eastern Europe!
11. I also want a united Europe, with co-operation and trade. That does not mean that we need to have a political union and an ever-encroaching dictatorship with inefficient and unaccountable finances.
