We have not even got the summer over yet and that *** on GB news Eamonn Holmes said this morning that the strike at Felixstone could put Xmas in danger. The media in this country and especially EH need to stop looking for this constant need doom and gloom.
Was he in any way critical of the strikers?
Their motivation is lamentable & seems typical of their age group. They have gone without nothing in their lives, and have formed the comfortable view that everything must either always stay the same or get better for them.
They are of the opinion that if inflation runs at 10% then they MUST be given them a pay rise of 10%
With inflation running at over 10%, there will be a lot more strikes this year.
I am sure Felixstowe handles a lot more important cargo than Christmas tat. But the right wing media want to demonise the unions, so it takes the unions ruin Christmas angle on the story.
If anything is going to spoil Christmas for millions, it will be a shortage of money due to fuel prices reaching exorbitant levels.
Gromit; //If anything is going to spoil Christmas for millions, it will be a shortage of money due to fuel prices reaching exorbitant levels//
and what do you think is the reason for that? could it possibly to do with a world pandemic & a war in Ukraine?
Whatever it is, it mustn't impinge in any way on the lives of these strikers holding the country to ransom.
I'm not sure what "spoil Xmas" means - if it means people pulling back on an extravaganza of shopping/eating/drinking then I would say it's sorely in need of "spoiling"! It used to be much simpler & frankly much more enjoyable.
Gee, I wonder...will this strike action and others like it...contribute to inflation? So the doom mongers will have even more to moan about. The media in this country thrives on telling us how dire things are. Give them a bit of news like this and they rub their hands with glee.
Barry, I don't ever entertain him, its just first thing in a morning when I have my first coffee of the day I just flick around on TV just to get the main headlines GB just happened to be on about the strike.
No sooner this rubbish came out of his mouth I flicked again then off withe TV.
He's nothing more than an overpaid laid back slob in my view. My be he should turn his attention to what really matters.
The Felixstowe Dock & Railway Company that made the 5% pay increase offer, is owned by CK Hutchison Holdings Limited, a Hong Kong-based and Cayman Islands-registered multinational conglomerate corporation.
