In fact the breakthrough happened - an entire regiment of the DPR plus VDV (paratrooper) back up - kind of fled, really

Reports that the russians are abandoning Nova Kakhovka. which is the town about 60 km upriver (Dnipro) from Kherson, which has been blitzed over the last couple of days.
This has been brewing: there's been a real bombardment of kherson and Melitopol (Zaporozhzhya) over the past few days. All four brisges the invaders rely on for supplies across the river were disabled by yesterday, and the pontoon they were building has yet to be completed.
All their commanders had already decamped to south of the river
Hard to explain, but if you look at a map you might see what I mean.

The line of advance is long, and stretches along the Zaporizhzhya region front line too, where the counter offensive has had some success already.
Meanwhile 25,000 Russian troops are still north of the river in Kherson, completely cut off.
