Certainly made a rod for her own back, for sure.

Remind me again of those Brexit benefits, bar the sovereignty of course?
Has Truss sealed her fate already? Or will she revert to the Mrs Flip-Flop we’ve all come to expect?

the flipping and flopping began well before she was elected though.

Isn't it grand that we don't need to bow to the dictates of an unelected bureaucracy outside our country?
No windfall tax for our big companies making a fortune from high fuel prices.

Indeed not sandyRoe, our new PM prefers that we foot the bill.
I mean, she has to look after her previous employers…..

Oooo … you can’t go saying sensible things like that around here, Leo. ‘Sensible’ doesn’t go down to well. :o)
I think a majority of the nation is too preoccupied with things going on elsewhere in London to be paying any real notice to Liz Truss.
Truss's biggest announcement to date involves the fact that she will not impose a windfall tax on energy companies.

The European Commission has tabled regulations to raise €140 billion from a windfall tax whereas, here in the UK, that same sort of money (£100 billion to £150 billion) is to be lent to individuals and companies by the Government, to pay the energy companies. So we're set to be hundreds of billions down compared to our EU counterparts.
She was under pressure from the moment Answerbankers polled her Third.

A nice bit of symmetry there, Lizz the Third and Charles the Third. :-D
This is all very childish. Of course actions by the EU would affect the UK even when we left. The 'Mrs Flip-Flop' is also ridiculous. She's only been in the job five minutes.

Indeed. Back to reality with a massive bump on Tuesday though.

…….and decided to screw-over the public instead of taxing the big energy companies like the EU is going to do.
Great start!
The UK pays the energy firms ~€140 billion in increased charges.

The energy firms pay the EU ~€140 billion as a windfall tax.

The net effect is ... ???

Well i said before my energy provider may be doing okay as it aint gone bust like many others like Bulb but its not making a profit on me, its losing money as I were lucky to take there 2 year fix a year ago before all these huge cost increases

Please pleas give it a rest Fatti. Why don't you try and be cheerful instead of bringing doom and gloom. It's so dispiriting.

It’s called News, start a thread of your own with happy guff if this is not to your liking.
So you've moved on from Boris - is that we have to expect now? No doubt the other one will still be blaming him for everything for a long time yet.

In the absence of a block button I will just scroll on by from now on like I do with the other one.

To be fair ... the UK, under Liz Truss, choosing not to impose a windfall tax on energy firms, when the EU is doing so, is worthy of a discussion. Ultimately, our excess payments will be going into EU coffers and funding their citizens and businesses to compete with ours!
