It's rare for me to criticise this lady but as far as I can see there are people of all colours, nationalities and persuasions gracing our screens these days but we are rarely aware of their religion, and for good reason. We don't need to be aware of their religion. Actors are actors - aren't they?

I agree with fender. The acceptable face of Islam is always presented here, and the unacceptable bits glossed over or ascribed to 'rogue states or groups'. Those unacceptable bits are alive and working in the western world generally. It is a religion containing very dangerous elements at its core. I have, of course, known very, very many very kind, charitable Muslims and been friends with some. The darkness is, however, there.
However, to revert to Naomi's post. This bit of news has certainly made me look at and think about this young lady and her pronouncements somewhat differently.
On a lighter note, films would be longer (if not better value) if a Christian actor were to be allotted a scene taking Communion; a Jewish actor celebrating Sabbat, a Jain taking a break for a pilgrimage; a Buddhist interrupted whilst meditating etc, etc.. I can see it now - 'This blockbuster, searing movie interweaving the elements of excitement, danger and romance successfully with a searching exploration of psychological and religious mores and attitudes'. Can't wait! I'll write the screenplay - where's Spielberg when you need him?
