Liz Truss is planning to allow thousands of immigrants to come to the UK to fill the Thousands of job vacancies that the Brits don't want.
Mainly agricultural workers ,and hightech Broadband engineers. And she is prepared to lift the immigration requirement of them having to speak the English Language to help them qualify faster. Most of these workers will be coming from the E/U.....(Ain't you glad you voted Brexit)

But they will be workers we need/want and not just any tom dick or harry who fancies living here. Presumably they won't have permanent residency. (PS- I think there are several million ex-EU residents already living here so we ain't done so bad in that regard.)

And if we can get the workers we need despite Brexit, what's the problem? (Yes I am glad I voted for Brexit)

getting a bit late in the season for that gully - we probably import most of our eating apples from the EU anyway, so if they want to pick apples they should stay in France innit.

Seems reasonable to me, we need workers and they want to work. We can pick and choose who comes and they wont be allowed benefits etc.

As for jobs that Brits dont want that is garbage. Although looked down on picking fruit/veg is actually skilful if you are to get a large amount of crops harvested in a short period of time without wrecking them.

We may be able to attract skilled workers from Third World countries, but the problem with them, some would think, is the colour of their skin.

Gulliver, immigrants are required and very useful in growing any country. If you had bothered to read what people wrote at the time it was uncontrolled immigration and people coming simply to sponge that was the problem. They do not benefit a countries growth or the current inhabitants be they indigenous or immigrant. In particular they harm the poorest in society, not that you would care obviously.

Why not, I have worked in IT for 40 years and have worked in the USA, Bruxelles, Paris and Frankfurt. Its not always the money and some of the working practices in the European Countries are restrictive to say the least.
