"Thirty-four people have been killed, including 22 children, in a mass shooting at a preschool centre in a north-eastern province of Thailand, police have said.

The attacker was a former policeman who killed his wife and child before shooting himself dead."

as they say, only in Texas - but then the authorities can screw up - remember Andrea Yates - they sentenced her to death, after she murdered her 5 children but eventually repealed it when it was deemed that she really was suffering from major postnatal depression - the original decision caused a right hue and cry about it over there.

It's incomprehensible what goes through the mind of a person who does something like this. I have watched a number of documentaries with psychologists trying to explain these types of murder but I will never understand it.

Awful yes - but these incidents are a drop in the ocean compared with the millions (yes millions) dying in wars and from persecution, malnutrition and preventable diseases. Just not headlines anymore.
