Incidentally, by copying the Guardian which is really an archive of their newspaper page, Answerbank missed out on providing a proper internet site; it should flags to indicate updates, ability to send notifications to people who respond when someone adds to discussion, a proper search facility and much more. Slightly off the subject, but in reference to the valuable contribution from Pinotage: We were not copying The Guardian. The original concept of a reader posting a question to which another reader provides a response was developed in the 1890s by Lord Northcliffe, owner of the Daily Mail, with his creation 'Answers to Correspondents'. That concept has been picked up by many newspapers in the intervening years, and on one or two websites in the UK and more in the USA. Very few (The Guardian is one among them) does this for free, as we do. As to the wine site he mentioned, this is very similar to many many 'out of the box' community tools made by US software companies. Ours was built from scratch, and while we realise that there are many improvements that can be made, we have to rationalise that against the fact that this is a free site, and thus costs must be very rigidly controlled. Personally I welcome comments like Pinotage's because it is very useful to see what the users like and don't like. These points do influence us and we are grateful for them.
