Some of you may not be aware of the growing movement in support of the UK re-joining the EU given the disaster that Brexit has been for the UK. There are now many who believe the UK re-joining is inevitable.

For those wanting to attend the re-join march, the assembly point is the Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane, London at midday.
For more info see here:

To the Brexiteers amongst you, having failed to list a single benefit from Brexit despite my continued asking (on this site); the question now before you is to list a single negative that would result from us re-joining?

sp; //how many of the twenty-seven nations still in the EU are planning to follow the UK and leave the club?//

and if you don't know why Ukraine wants to JOIN, you really must be naïve.
‘ Some of you may not be aware of the growing movement in support of the UK re-joining the EU’

No, I wasn’t and there’s a reason for that, isn’t there boys and girls!

Do we know what it is?

Yes, Tommy, it’s because it’s a pile of crap. A gold star on your chart. Good boy!

After what has happened to the UK, any EU State would be stupid to even consider a vote leave referendum.

The Daily Express?

Seriously???

I understand Ukraine’s wish to join NATO, but please - share your understanding of why it wants to join the EU, together with Georgia and Moldova.

From what I’ve found online, Ukraine wanting to join the EU “goes beyond co-operation, to gradual economic integration and deepening of political co-operation.”

I hear what you’re saying, but won’t all our woes can be attributed to Brexit (although it’s definitely a contributory factor).

There’s also the damage that our government have done to the economy plus international financial turmoil.
(For ‘won’t’ read ‘not’)
I made the choice not to vote in the referendum because I didn't think it would make any difference whether we were in or out of the EU. I still think that.
Hymie

In answer to your original question, I think rejoining the EU is a 100% non-starter and the marchers are wasting their time.
i admire them for standing up for a cause they believe in... i think everybody with the guts to protest in favour of their ideas should be encouraged to do so

but i don't agree with the cause... i think brexit has done a great deal of harm to the uk and will continue to do that but it is irreversible now... i wish we hadn't left and also that we hadn't left on the terms that we did but we're very far past the point of no return...
Countries wanting to join the EU have one thing in mind - how much money will they give us? No one aims to be a net contributor.
I agree, Dave.
davebro

Are you sure about that?

Is that laid out in Moldova's, Georgia's or Ukraine's applications, the EU enlargement document or are they being smart and keeping it to themselves.

They'll be kicking themselves that their plans have been leaked!

;-)
SP, why that knowing little smiley wink? Do you really believe any of those countries would be a net contributor? Really?
naomi24

The wink - just a happy little emoji. Something to cool down the tone.

Regarding the three countries acceeding to the EU - I suspect they’re doing it for economic security and ease of trade reasons.

I don’t have the figures for whether they’re likely to be net contributors as my understanding is that value to the EU isn’t solely measured in hard cash - there’s also access to expanded markets (both sides) - that’s a very important consideration.
SP, There's no 'heat' here to cool down - and that wasn't even a clever swerve. Just a complete change of direction.

//SP, There's no 'heat' here to cool down//

But plenty of hot air about Brexit, even though they can’t list a single facet that has benefited the population of the UK.

Someone will be along shortly Sp1814 to tell you that you lost and you should get over it…..even though they can’t get over Johnson losing.
// even though they can’t list a single facet that has benefited the population of the UK. //

I have ... several times. Perhaps if you were to stop rambling for a moment you might have time to read what other people are saying.
Okay naomi24 if you think so. To me, looking back I think I answered davebro’s assertion directly.

But I can see how that could’ve been misinterpreted.

Anyway - I’m summary, rejoin EU is not the way forward. It’ll just infuriate those who voted to leave. What Remainers have to accept is what’s done is done. We have to make the best of it and seek the opportunities Brexits affords the country.

And Leavers really need to do a much better job of providing evidence of the benefits of leaving.

You need to curb your language.
