According to a new Poll , Two in three Brits want a General Election Now !.
This new poll says 64% of voters ,say Sunak should now call a G/E.
This marks the highest level of support for an early election, amongst all voters and amongst Tory supporters. It is now time for the public to decide who should Govern the Country . .......Not the Cons.
A recent poll with no link Brits said they want gully to learn how to post a link, by the way, I find Brits, derogatory, you wouldn't shorten the word Pakistan when talking about people from that country.
tories are clinging on to power by their fingernails. they will put off the general election for as long as possible because they know they would lose.
they’re just in power for the sake of being in power… no ideas no ambition no goals no interest in improving the state of the country. They just like power and that’s it.
for all their faults i do think labour aspire to more than simply being in power yes. i don’t necessarily agree with the present leadership but i do think they are motivated by what they consider to be the national interest.
i am sadly not convinced that this is currently true of the conservative party.
You still seem to be under the delusion that the public decides who runs the country. They don't, and never did. The public choose a representative for their local area, to support their local views. The monarch chooses someone to run the country as PM. Then the PM chooses their cabinet by offering jobs in it to individuals.
// The public choose a representative for their local area, to support their local views.//
Whilst that may be so in principle in practice many (most) voters vote for the candidate who is of the party they want to see gain power at the national level.
//The monarch chooses someone to run the country as PM.//
The majority party chooses the PM - the monarch endorses him/her.
Asmuch as I want see Sir Keir as PM its going to have to wait until 2024 unless The Current PM chooses to go earlier.
As far as I can see GE's happen in only 3 ways. 1. If the 5 years approx is up
2 if the PM calls a midterm one knowing they'd get back in and get another 5vyears.
3. The gov majority is tiny or dissapear's and they lose a vote of no confidence and can't get thing's done.
There as never been a midterm GE just because partway through an opinion poll says we should have one now. If there was there'd be no stability or longterm planning. When Labour wins in 2024 they should get 5 years to show what there goverment can do without regular calls for elections and all that uncertainty that go's with that
so has spoken the Transylvanian Times or the Ardennes Sycophant, where ever the OP resides in his splendiferous ivory tower, funded by monies from all sorts of Corbynite dubious sources.
