What is it about football that prompts this disgusting behaviour? I can't think of any other sport that has a similar effect.

You are the one breaking the rules with your personal nasty attack on Naomi @14.05. And yet it stays when mods are supposed to abide by the same rules as the rest of us. //
I seem to spend an inordinate amount of time explaining this to you, but once again -
All Moderators post as AB'ers and we are subject to the Site Rules along with everyone else.
We are subject to the Site Rules because we are AB'ers and we are not less, or as you seem to think, more bound by the Rules because of our Moderator status.
I am subject to the Rules as is everyone - if one of my fellow Moderators feels that I, or indeed any other posts on the thread, are against Site Rules, they will delete my post.
If you feel strongly enough about what I have said, or the manner in which I have said it, then you have the Report option at your disposal, as does everyone, and the Editorial Team will act if they think that I have acted improperly.
Hopefully that finally prevents you from yet again posting your criticism of me 'as a Mod' and we can move on.
Thank you.

douglas - // Two titans of Answerbank set themselves for another protracted, pointless exchange in a vain attempt to gain an empty win.
It was ever so.
Come on you reds, etc. //
I would not dream to speak for another AB'er, but i for one have concluded my input into that particular aspect of the debate.
If the OP is addressed, and I have something to offer, I will do so, but as far as the exchanges to which you refer, I have nothing further to add.

FoodRoolt - // Just personal opinion, not any kind of factual validation but I have always thought of football culture as a poor modern replacement for both religion and mass patriotism (in my own country at least). Personally, I don't need either of those but the sheep must have their little clicks to feel human and validated. Thanks vera, i'll see you later then //
I am inclined to agree, as I have posted already - are you a UK poster?

Arksided - // Sweet mother of lord... these are not football fans in my eyes, and i'm not blinkered... they use football as a reason to behave like nob-heads.
Yes I'm very much ashamed of 'Our so called fans as well' //
As my post advises, I do agree that the tribalism of football is used by some as an excuse for their appalling behaviour.
It allows them to look in the mirror and say "I am a proud English football fan, and I will fight any and all foreign fans who are up for it ..."
as opposed to the less palatable reality, which means looking into the mirror and saying "I am a poor excuse for a human being, and I justify my sad existence by using football fandom as a poor excuse for the fact that I get perverse pleasure from hitting complete strangers and trashing cities in other countries."

ladybirder - // Even when I tell AH I know the rules he tells me again what they are. J H Christ. I know. I've known them for all the time I've been on here. //
If you know, then why do you keep coming on and moaning at me for posting something you don;t like 'as a Mod ...' as though that makes it even worse.
If you know the rules, and you know they apply to everyone, and you know Mods are AB'ers, then you can stop moaning at me for breaching mythical Mod 'standards' which are above and beyond everyone else's, and which exist only in your mind.
Thank you.

Never - // Is ' your unmerited schoolmarm sense of superiority' classed as NOT personally rude in terms of AB? I know we may all have differing standards, but it's hard at times to know what is acceptable. //
Clearly I don't think so - one of my fellow Mods may think it unacceptable, or someone may report it to the Ed Team, and they may act.
You can make your own mind up I am sure.
