Taking into account the Charity Worker's name and appearance I consider quite a few people would query where she was from and not intend any offence. The situation, as it has become, would not have arisen if she had just explained politely and not jumped on the woke "'cos I'm different" bandwagon. I am not condoning racism when it occurs but as far as I can see the...
naomi, I have seen that the Queen's Companions will not deal with correspondence:
"Though the position is similar to the traditional role of a lady-in-waiting, the source explains that none of the women will carry out administrational responsibilities or deal with official correspondence (something Queen Elizabeth II had her ladies in waiting do).
The six friends will instead be seen by Camilla's side at future engagements or on official travel."
I read something different, choux, but no matter. The point is ladies in waiting will be no more so this lady is not destined to live in sackcloth and ashes as some might prefer.
Khandro, it saddens me that this has happened and I wish there had been more of a statement from the Palace to reflect the closeness of Lady Susan and the Royal Family. I would think that there was no deliberate intention by Lady Susan to cause offence for she has been present many times to see how the late Queen dealt with such gatherings among a diverse group of people.
I cannot help but think that the situation was monitored and maybe manipulated by some to show how the situation escalated and then continues to be blown up out of proportion. To any octogenarian it may not seem such rude behaviour but more of a curious nature, but who knows?
The response from the Palace seems, to me, almost violent in its reaction and I am surprised at the speed with which Lady Susan has been "abandoned". The poor woman can do no right now and I am sure she will feel that she has let the late Queen down.
All in all I would say it is a sad ending and I have no idea how Prince William can comfort his godmother now.
Just hope the charity worker's name does not appear in the New Year's Honours List!
true and the other side are damned even before they say anything - this really needs to change if there is to be a fair and just society - and woke falls into this as well.......
Only just seen this thread. I am very, very disappointed in Prince William. No, he was not right to act so. He should have waited on events and clarity and given a lady he knows well the benefit of the doubt. I cannot see that she was racist in any way. Assuming that racism means supporting one race and denigrating another, which I always thought it did.
Clearly, when invited to a do at the Palace to celebrate your work for charity, and racially abused, the only acceptable response is to keep your gob shut and take it, lest you be accused of being ungrateful, spiteful or vindictive ...
the worst thing is the Sussexes trying to take the media spotlight off the Boston visit...hope the P and PoW get their limelight in meeting Sleepy Joe in Boston tomorrow...

Is there any point in continuing with this thread (or with indeed AB?) when contributors with a minority view are in fact moderators with the ability to remove the posts they don't like ?
Come on Khandro, I thought you were made of sterner stuff!
Even as I speak your 'majority' are combing the media for further evidence that someone none of you had heard of three days ago is now deemed to be Public Enemy Number One!
It's proof that Moderators do not abuse their position as you so tirelessly and pointlessly accuse them of, that the spiteful piffle attacking someone whose only sin is sticking up for herself in the face of stratospheric rudeness, still stands on the site in all its nasty spiteful shame.
You'll feel better tomorrow, attacking a stranger with renewed vigour because she exposed bigotry and vad manners.
