In comparison to UK minister accepting bribes for undisclosed amounts; I work for a FTSE100 company and my employment ethics code requires me to seek approval from my management should a client offer a gift exceeding £20 in value, I have to get approval for the gift, not just accept it and declare it.

If I was to tell my employer I had accepted a bribe from a client and refused to disclose the amount – I would be dismissed immediately for gross misconduct – yet this is perfectly acceptable behaviour from our Tory government ministers.

If someone whom you believe to be corrupt, announces that the rules for government ministers accepting bribes is open to corruption – that corruption must be on another level (up from that person’s normal corrupt behaviour).

Perhaps what Roy was complaining about is that Chris Bryant is required to declare the value of bribes he receives above £300 – whereas government ministers are under no obligation to disclose the amount of money they accept as a bribe.
