I have no agenda here - I'm not Jewish and I think a lot of what Israel has done over the last 20 years has been reprehensible (as opposed to the first 30 years or so of its existence when I cheered as it fought off endless attacks from neighbouring Arab states who posed an existential threat to the country).
But ... as a former member of the Labour Party, I just wish that it had spent even 1% of the time, money and vitriol it expended on libelling Ms Riley on, instead, rooting out the antisemites and holocaust deniers that so disfigured its reputation.
Her MBE was mainly for 'Improving knowledge of the Holocaust' - given the traction that Holocaust deniers and belittlers seem to get from some of the wackos on social media, that seems a valuable job and justly recognised.
