What exactly is Catholic bishops problem? They've been chucking stuff into the long grass for ever.

I suppose its no different from me and wee brother dumping dad's ashes in Loch Earn, right across from the caravan site.
Soylent Green anyone?
Rosetta, somebody will find a way to make money from it. All the more reason to avoid green food.

Indeed, Wolf, it's all got to go somewhere and no oddly-dressed God botherer should have any say in where.

Having said that though, they do know where the bodies are buried.

It all gets too precious. Don't want it?, don't do it but leave others with choices including swinging from trees in body farms.
Attitudes to mortal remains are very much a matter of individual attitudes to death.

Some think of a corpse as worthless, and putting it to good use is a good idea.

Those with a professional interest in death, such as the Bishop, have a more invested attitude, hence his protestations.

Whether or not you think he has a point depends entirely on your own approach to mortality, and what happens to what is left behind.

Bishops have no interest in death, giving over their time to convincing already browbeaten followers that they will live forever if only they will believe.

As well as donate and endow of course. For verily, there are no pockets in a shroud and enriching the living is a denial of a loving god who will look after their every need.
Once they stop breathing anyway.

In closing, I now fully understand mansplaining and the effects it can have on normal folk.
Douglas - Since we are discussing the aftermath of physical death, I think the Bishop and his colleagues are absolutely interested in it - preparing believers for it is their entire raison d'etre.

You've been spectacularly wrong before, but never by this much.

Well done.
I prefer the idea to being buried. At least the earthworms wouldn't get the eyeballs.

I still prefer the idea of cremation though.
