Sunak's Failure to sack Zahawi shows how the PM is hopeless weak and frightened, as Sir Keir reminds him and says we all know why the Pm was reluctant to ask his partys chair questions about family finance and tax avoidence.
Would it be because Sunak and his wife are as guilty as Zahawi is ????.

well I paid a penalty a few years ago - to the taxman
an issue so complex ( gift as notional disposal for tax ppurposes) that even I didnt understand it.

I wdnt dream of declaring it ever - BUT police for example have to declare debts and some professions ( law I think) dont allow bankrupts ( also Manch city council)

Its a pity that the leader of the opposition doesn't do what the opposition should be doing. Talking and challenging about the war in Ukraine, Strikes, Transgender, The Economy amongst many any things. Instead he tries to score cheap politic points which does his credibility little good.

Unless Mr Starmer thinks petty point scoring will win him an election - and going by his continuing performance it seems he does - of course the opposition should be talking about all those things.

Gulliver @ 09.17. Of course its the opposition responsibility to raise issues as mentioned in my original post, that's their job and what 'joe public' would expect. Starmer could learn a lot from great opposition debaters such as the late great John Smith and even Tony Blair. They raised issues which were important to the running and the safety of this country. They did waste precious time raising issues about who paid what in tax.
The lack of any constructive opposition highlights the weakness of the current leader of the opposition.

no - the beeb have made a horrendous mess of this and are unwilling to clarify - penalty is payable to the HMRC and is NOT a fine ( payable to the court/state)
and you can be fined AND have a penalty ( Doddie and Lester Piggott).

They do. I am speaking From (bitter, bitter) Experience ( HMRC emoji scowl). The let out is that HMRC never agree it is an innocent error. ( easy that one)
