And why not name the entire gang, why should they be allowed any protection of anonymity.

A cowardly attack by a gang specifically out to cause carnage.

Execute them, there's no rehabilitation that will work.
What a terrible story! Poor man.
I would prefer the rope but would settle for actual life - no parole.
They have ruined so many lives they have forfeited their own. Don't bother to say they have 'uman rights as they have no respect for the rights of others.
That made hard reading. I agree with you, Canary. I think they should be named - and the key thrown away.
What a group of teenage scum. I liked how the judge spoke, and they have now got their comeuppence.
They will still be the scum they are now when the sentences are up, only older and wiser in their evil ways and Mr Kirwin will still be dead and gone. I wholeheartedly agree with douglas, but sadly we all know this is never going to happen.
That’s the problem, they have not got their comeuppance!
Indeed they haven't jazzy, I fear they will be treated with kid gloves wherever they are, such is the 'justice' in this country.
My first thought was what would be a fitting sentence. Maybe 50 years in prison? But then they become institutionalised. So perhaps a whole life sentence, but that is fraught with its own problems.

So I have settled for 60 years of incarceration before being allowed to apply for parole.
Are we entering a stage where we have to go shopping with friends/family for our own safety, or ignore unsocial behaviour by ‘ these gangs’ . ?
I have no doubt this crime will be repeated. Is it any wonder decent folk now think better of standing up against bad behaviour? Poor man and his family :(
