To read the personal stories is just heart breaking.
It's impossible to make judgements about these people...they are each in their own personal hell. As the president of the outreach group said " Our brains tell us to breathe. Their brains tell them to breathe and get drugs, or you will die - maybe not those exact words."

It's very sad, but any addiction is hard to break and these poor kids suffer enormous peer pressure to join (or are "spiked") and then lack the considerable willpower to break the addiction.
One possible answer is a world-wide cooperative operation to extinguish and criminalise the sources, but with the number of countries making money out of it this eventuality is not at all likely to be forthcoming. Furthermore it would be a bloody battle as Mexico police have found to their cost.

Hundreds of people die in this country every year from alcohol related diseases, but everyone thinks it's ok to imbibe on a regular basis. Then there's death on the roads, absenteeism, domestic violence, town centre violence. The pushers of that drug are the manufacturers, retail outlets, clubs, bars, pubs, restaurants etc. But that's ok, isn't it? What's the excuse for all of that, then?
