'still, the police shouldn't have been telling everyone about her medical history, that won't have made any difference to finding her body'

I think that was done to stop people selling stories about her.
Although the police shouldn't have released details concerning her medical problems (either her family, or GP must have made them aware, though). I think they did it to try and stop the speculation regarding her disappearance, and to justify their line of inquiry. They were backed into a corner with all the media (social included) interest, I do think it was done with the best of intentions. Unfortunately there was only going to be one outcome following her disappearance. I hope the family can now be given the time and space they need to process her very tragic death.
All very odd.
This is tragic. The chances are this is her and sympathy goes to the family and friends.
It’s a sad day and the outcome we had all hoped wouldn’t be the case.

The police knew what they were doing and I’m confident they only issued the medical history to prevent it being sold to the rags.

I think its left an indelible stain on poor poor Nicola!!
I dare say it has, but I'm sure I heard that the family gave permission for the information to be released.

TBH, if anyone thinks less of her because of it, they need to give their head a wobble.
How very, very, very sad. How awful having to tell the children. I wonder why it has taken so long to find her. Poor Nicola.
We don't know how long the body has been where it was found.
LB, it seems that you, NJ and I are thinking along similar lines.
As are we, Naomi. I still find it incredible that a spaniel didn't jump into the water if his mistress went in.
I think she's been there all along. Maybe not in that spot but the tides in that river are variable so any body could wash backwards and forwards for a while.
Or rather should I say, upstream and downstream.
It’s just odd, jourdain. They’ve had expert divers scouring that river and the leader swore that if she was there they’d have found her.
Reading that report it seems the body wasn’t found by divers but spotted from above the water.
Poor chap's face was white as a ghost when he saw the body in the water. That's going to stick with him for the rest of his life:-(
It was seen by walkers. I think bodies bloat up during decomposition so they tend to float.
//The police knew what they were doing...//

Did they?

If indeed this body turns out to be that of Ms Bulley, according to the police theory (that she fell in the river on the day she disappeared) it has been in the water for 23 days. It is now found a mile from where she disappeared. This is despite an extensive search of what is a fairly small, benign river by both the police and an independent underwater search expert. Bodies usually surface after 3 to 5 days

I have absolutely no idea what really happened, but I am not so quick to jump to the conclusion which the police did three weeks ago. Because there is no evidence that possibilities 1 to 9 occurred, it does not mean that possibility ten did (especially when there is no evidence of that either). We must wait and see what the body reveals.
This is who I was referring to: The male walker was seen ashen faced as he talked to police and pointed at an outcrop of trees and undergrowth along the bank, saying: 'There's definitely a body there'.
Not sure it is a benign river though. It is tidal which can be very variable.
