They are suggesting a digital identity that encompasses driving licence, passport and a huge amount of information about each person. A horrible incursion into personal privacy and setting the scene for a 'Big Brother' society. I would definitely oppose that.
I would not oppose a simple identity card to establish entitlement for health care and social security support - as in the Carte Verte in France.
I also have no objection to proving my right to vote - coming from the Bradford/Keighley area, I knew about many instances of false voting.

I don't have a problem with it at all. I know people are worried about intrusion on privacy and collection of personal data but that ship sailed long ago. I don't think people realise how much is already out there on us, texts and emails from the Drs, banks, online shops, DVLA, the tax office, a trillion of other things you've probably already given dates of birth, home addresses, personal phone numbers to, it's endless. At least this adds another layer of security to checking who our citizens are.
The list of acceptable photo ID can be found here and includes an older person's bus-pass,

They are still as unacceptable as there ever were and ever will be. Only governments that wish to control individual citizens insist they carry prove to justify themself to authorities. Seems many fail to learn from world history but let, and indeed are happy that such freedoms be whittled away gradually.
My mugshot just cost me £10. My new passport £82, and isn’t a new driving licence a similar price?
There are a lot of people who cannot afford near £100 to vote.
We have coped 100+ years without photo ID why do we need them now?
My phone and tablets unlocks via my fingerprint. Why can’t I upload my fingerprint and finger scan and have that to release my voting card. I log into AB with my finger tip and it costs nothing.

It's the future, one way or another. The comment about the government knowing everybody's mobile number doesn't even scratch the surface. The "man" knows everything about you. This is why technology like biometric identification and two-factor authentication are so important.
Just as important is keeping private and personal data private and personal. There are bots on the dark web which trawl all portals which allow personal interaction, like AB, the social media platforms etc and harvest and collate this information until they have assembled enough of it to be useful for criminal activity, not just identity theft.
I shudder when I see a "Happy birthday!" post with a reply of "Thanks! The big 5-0".

Hague and Blair ... as devious a pair of EEyoo stooges that it is possible to get and a "news" outlet only too willing to push their doctrine. I.D. cards in the image of their beloved EUSSR. No thanks. Even having the brass neck to hide it behind a "voter fraud" scare. We have millions of illegal entrants amongst us. They got across mainland Europe with no ID and were admitted into this country without it. You try getting across Europe without ID. An all encompassing ID card is not for your benefit or convenience ... it is to track and control you.
GROMIT, "Why can’t I upload my fingerprint and finger scan and have that to release my voting card."
You don't mind your and fingerprint being held on a national database but you object to showing photo ID?
With millions of additional fingerprints being held on a national database for decades, would you object to the police having access to it?
