I wish more people would react like this.

Lavrov’s face could be used with salt on chips. Apparently he wasn’t told the invasion was to start last year, and he’s looked even more miserable ever since.
It was hilarious.
Towing the party line?

Completely clueless?
Do the Russian people genuinely believe Russia aren’t the aggressors and that Russia are on some sort of noble crusade?
I think they do, DD, although with internet access to the wider world, why they do is a mystery. Perhaps they just can’t believe it
of their beloved leader.
We regularly call our politicians liars but we believe them more than we believe foreigners; I suspect that Russians think the same way.
This sort of stuff comes out all the time. They’ve no option but to lie because the truth doesn’t bear think about. They launched a disastrous war and are doomed to a slow death
Varying rumblings about Moldova, ich. Any thoughts?
The Russians were claiming Ukraine was going to invade Moldova rather ridiculously.

President Sandu leads a pro western government but as you probably know the country is divided - with 1000 Russian troops stationed in the unrecognised sliver of territory known as Transdniestr

I hope this is correct: Ukraine’s ambassador in London announces Ukraine to receive 28, not 14 Challenger tanks from Britain.
That’ll have Lavrov cracking a smile at his own jokes …
What role, if any, does Russia's parliament play in its country's foreign affairs, the war included? It seems like Putin rules alone, and what he wants, he gets - have they no say?
Lol
You have got to be kidding.
Russia has what it calls a parliament (the duma) but it’s basically an assembly of fanatics and nodding dogs.
Russia is not so much a country as a criminal organisation using national resources to fund its activities.
Foreign policy is basically decided by one man. As I was saying above, Lavrov (a career diplomat and actually a cultured man - not a member of Putin’s organised crime syndicate) is the foreign minister but he evidently wasn’t told what was happening on Feb 24 last year
russians are by nature nationalist, at least the older generation, whats left of them ie ww2 vets, its in there psyche us -them, why ingrained into them, mostly the working class, who have a gripe ie its there fault
rulers play on that theme, the educated know better, they are just afraid...
Perhaps he's trying to compete with this fella:
