"We recognise that this guide has its origin in English, the language of a colonising nation."
Avoid male/female, and instead use ASAB/AFAM (assigned female/male at birth).
Avoid Mankind as it has an inherent association with maleness.
Avoid Black Market to avoid negative connotations.
Avoid Ethnic Minority and instead use Minority Ethnic.
And so on....
I'll point out, before anybody else inevitably does, that Oxfam states it's not prescriptive...but that's not really the point.
BTW, as it's fashionable to be offended now, can I be offended if anybody refers to me as Cis-male rather than just male?

I work for Oxfam and have done so for 15+ years. I am a volunteer and don't get paid. I love working in our shop and am going there when I go out.
Yes- Oxfam has its problems. It is a big organisation and they come up with some strange ideas. I moan constantly about the way they work.
However, it is a good source of old books and music. We sell online and we have some really 'unusual' books for sale.
Don't judge the entire charity and all the volunteers based on what you have read in the press.

Sorry wolfie. Good on you for volunteering your time. Their shops may be agreeable but the organisation's philosophy has never been very sound.
