Condemning Twitter as a hate factory is like calling a claw hammer a weapon for murderous psychopaths.

In reality it's a tool, that's all.
I’ve written of my experiences before. If you set it up to only like the things you’re interested in, it’s like a magazine ‘built’ especially for you. I see none of this hate which others see. I can only assume they follow trashy people and trashy organs.
The trolls are many, anonymous, vicious, irrational and lying - for them, it's a sport, like bear-baiting is a "sport". The victim is usually one, known, and a decent person. It's an unfair fight, especially when Musk throws in his lot with the trolls on Twitter.

For sane, normal people, the best defence is to not get into it in the first place. But that is not a perfect defence, there are still problems with doing that, and for some people the consequences are dire.

Still, this is the same Elon Musk that calls somebody a "pedo guy" for rescuing 12 boys trapped in a Thai cave in June 2018. What can you expect? For me, I never do anything that would knowingly profit Elon Musk. It's a start!

That analogy doesn't actually fly.

A hammer is a very simple tool, and when used for its correct purpose, to hit things, it works perfectly well, with the occasional aberration, to which you refer.

Twitter is also a tool, as you point out, but it is also a vastly complex media platform which, when used for its correct purpose, for strangers to communicate with other strangers, it opens up a whole cauldron of seething hatred and verbal violence, and the aberration becomes the normal day-to-day use of the tool in question.

A hammer, it is not, would that it was so simple.
i think the best one was when elon musk said the government shouldn't provide subsidies when he received billions yes actual billions in subsidies from the us government or what about when he was charged with securities fraud for his misleading tweets lol or the fact he is a well known and established misogynist his recent divorce goes to show no matter how much money you have or how many ties by children you have with someone sometimes they are just unbearable which is likely why he is no longer with grimes
Twitter's great for improv comedy. I remember when somone poured cement and water into the Victoria Line control room, it was abuzz with great instant jokes: "Breaking news, control room full of concrete, mortar follow", "Is this the Blue Circle line?" and "Those responsible will be jailed for 10 years on aggregate." There were some great gags about Tesco horseburgers too. There are some very funny people out there.
Grateful as ever for your brick-by-brick building and dismantling Mr Hughes.

Pointless, but a couple more clicks generated. Mission accomplished.
Grow up Douglas.

If you continue to offer endless redundant comparisons, I will be delighted to dismantle each and every one, that's how debate works.

If you don't appreciate having your inability to provide logical debate exposed, feel free to ignore me.

As for 'clicks generated', I have no idea what you are talking about, nor do I particularly care to indulge you while you wander down another of your pointless snide off-topic rants, so let's leave it there.
Righto me darlin'. X :-)

Yep. Exactly
Bear-baiting is illegal in civilised countries, Twitter is not one of them. Instead, Musk is one of the baiters.
I rather liked Doooogie’s analogy.
Zacs - liking it, or not, doesn't mean that makes sense, which it doesn't.
made sense to me
Roadman - if you want to take a faulty analogy as correct, knock yourself out.
Part of it is the tool, but the whole thing is an environment that includes some very nasty elements, including Musk himself.

Like a bear pit is a tool, the bear and the dogs in a bear pit is an environment. As for Elon Musk, here is our analogy ...

> Henry VIII was a fan and had a bear pit constructed at his Palace of Whitehall. Elizabeth I was also fond of the entertainment; it featured regularly in her tours. When an attempt was made to ban bear-baiting on Sundays, she overruled Parliament.
I didnt say it was right or wrong i said it made sense
Roadman, a prerequisite for an analogy to make sense, is that it is constructed in such a way that makes its point.

If it doesn't make sense, it can't be right.
That analogy doesn't actually fly.

That analogy doesn't actually fly imo.

Fixed it.
Hello Roy, I wondered if you could resist adding your ten pence worth, and be wrong doing so, again, and here you are, right on cue.

Grammar is based on rules, not opinions, so you can join the others, in your need to have a dig, and be wrong like them.

This particular cul-de-sac of pointless sniping is now closed.
