As I have mentioned, The Good Dr Laurenson does not seem to have done too much doctoring thus far. He is 28 years old and is currently a “Trainee GP” at a practice in Kent. Quite how much practice he has undertaken is unclear. In between holidays he seems to have put in an awful lot of time on the telly recently, explaining why “Junior” doctors need a 35% pay rise. What is also unclear is how BMA members have allowed him to be elevated to the position of co-chairman of their Junior Doctors’ Committee. But that, of course is their business.
On his 18th birthday, Dr Laurenson was appointed a director of his parents’ investment company. It is said he takes no salary or dividends from that post. Also unclear is why a company with just £2m in assets, only one person (his father) “with significant control” and no staff requires five directors (him, his parents and two brothers). But similarly that is their business.
//A union spokesperson said he was "fulfilling a long-standing commitment to attend the wedding of a family friend", adding: "We aren't going to disclose further personal information.//
