My great nephew and his wife are expecting baby number 5 next month.
Not sure what to think of the name for number 5. They already have Harrison, Hudson, Hattie, and Hunter. Baby 5 will be Henley.

Not really. Incoming letters may prove a difficulty working out whose they are though.
I just hope she's happy with her name.

I don't think I really like the idea of surnames as a christian name either.

I'm surprised that they have already announced the name, do most people not keep that secret until the birth?
surnames have been used as forenames for yonks, especially in places like Scotland where children are often given their mother's and grandmother's maiden name as a middle name. First names like Donald and Gordon are Scottish surnames.

Madison has only been a girl's first name since Daryl Hannah in Splash! named herself after a street sign.
Receiving mail will be fun. My son and I have names that begin with the same letter and that's bad enough sometimes. Marginally better than George Foreman whose five sons are all called George.
My first name is alsoa surname...theres a footballers called Oscar Bobb.
I knew a mum who had four boys and give them all the same first name. Lets say it was Billy. She said it made things easy at mealtimes...she just shouted ' Billy suppers ready'
When I asked her what if she just wanted one she said that's easy.... I just use there surname
saucy!
I quite like Henley. It will suit either a boy or a girl.
My father's middle name was his mother's surname. It used to be quite a common practice.

We now have an Elliot in the family as a first name. It's not connected to any other family member, past or present. Nothing wrong with surnames as first names, unless it's a name like Trump.

I know someone with Cart as his surname.
He called his son Orson...
My neighbour has a son called Henley. My dad was of Scottish origin and his middle name was Morton.
Oh dear jno. Gaining in popularity, I see!

were there Mortons on his (and your) family tree, lankeela?
-on-Thames?
A friendSs grandson has just been given four first names with the same initial as the surname and the same three letters in all four names. They are all very long names, surname included. Daren't put it on here in case she looks in!
