It has terrible whiff of decay about it at the moment. The next couple of years will bring existential signs with a crushing defeat at the GE and then disarray amongst the Party. After winning a victory election three years ago it is about to go into decline for years to come
At the moment it reminiscent of the last months of Thatcher Major and May. ...The Con party is full of sleaze and corruption with local elections and by.elections they are being defeated heavily. It seems the voters have stopped listening to the Tories after 13 years, and have made their minds up it's time for a change , they have got away with it for far too long.
...Good Riddance..

yes they are in decline because they rely so strongly on a particular section of the electorate that is aging into a minority and show very little interest in winning over anybody else… the only cohort that reports majority support for the tories is 55+ and even within that group there are plenty of people who are not tories

so unless the party changes strategy radically their share of the electorate is in serious decline and will within a few years be insufficient to deliver a parliamentary majority… i do hope that it is too late for them to do anything about this and that they are fated for oblivion but alas i suspect they will reinvent their image in years to come. i hope for the sake of the country that they fail!

there are of course some younger voters who are tories before anyone points to their favourite grandchild/nephew/cousin/friend but this is very far indeed from a majority position among under-50s
Its the same up here in Scotland, gulliver.Lets hope next year spells the end of both nationalist parties(Tories and SNP).Good riddance to both of these corrupt sleaze ridden parties.
Gulliver , will this effect you ?
And how, just curious, thanks
i see the usual sniping about gulliver’s location will resume

it is not anybody else’s business where gulliver lives… even if he does live abroad and chooses to comment on uk politics then you will just have to lump it

Boris was the main one that really helped put the Tories into free fall downfall .He turned out to be a liability. After getting elected on the wings of Brexit. It turned out that Brexit was a flop and so was Boris.
I know I have posted to the thread but i am curious why, if many of you believe Gulliver1 to be a troll continue to engage with Him/her. Surely to ignore is the correct course of action ?
Are we not entitled to ask someone who constantly snipes at this country from afar as to why they do it? I don't remember seeing we just have to lump it in the Site Rules.

Now that Corbyn has gone people are much keener to vote for Labour and they will at the GE . The tables have turned It's the Cons that the public are afraid of now.
you are entitled to nothing vulcan

lots of people “snipe” at the uk… usually if they say it’s too woke or too liberal or too green or something then it isn’t a problem… gulliver however targets the tories and suddenly it’s a problem
Question Author
It is said by the Cons themselves , that the only reason they won the 2019 election was because of three things ...the BBC .
Boris Brexit and Corbyn. Two of these things have gone and one of them has turned Negative with a Capital *N*
i would not count them out yet gulliver… i suspect they are willing to do whatever they can get away with to win

i will breathe a sigh of relief if they are booted out but i truly don’t know what will happen!
Gulliver is right....but only a few days ago he said labour should replace keir as leader with David miliband think it was but now seems to be happy with keir.. seen sense then?
Question Author
Even the Brexit voters are waking up at last.
They are no longer happy with trading Prosperity,
for Sovereignty or a crown stamp on a beer Glass .
Untitled I wasn’t questioning where Gulliver lived, merely asking him as an obvious British citizen , how what he’s written in his OP would affect him
//...the only cohort that reports majority support for the tories is 55+//

If you haven't voted for Labour by the time you are 25, your friends will think you are mad. If you haven't voted Conservative by the time you are 40 your friends will consider you completely Doolally-tat. :-)
Question Author
What is going to happen at the GE is the ex Labour voters from the red wall ,who were well and truly conned into voting for the Cons, by Boris and the Cons with the talk of Brexit, levelling up and ,
Building back better. Now realise it was just like their referendum a load of broken promises. Are going to return to Labour .
Best vote for the Lib-Dems instead,NJ.I do.Welcome to the club.

Surely all political parties are in decline ? Well I suppose some minor party must be about to pick up the lost votes. Make that most parties then.
