Sunak could use the Conservative conference this year to announce the date of the Snap election. Plans are being drawn up right now to make sure the Cons get the timing right.
Plans for a snap election this year are being drawn up
now? I’ll ask again. Where’s your evidence?
technically yes mushroom but many people decide which party to vote for based on who the leader is so there is a de facto presidential element in our system

And of course the Boundary changes will be law by the time of the Cons Conference, which the Cons are hoping will give them an extra cushion to try to help the doomed Tory Party.
// many people decide which party to vote for based on who the leader is //

many people would vote for an alpaca if it was wearing the right coloured rosette.
untitled, actually it's factually rather than 'technically'. Whatever spin you put on it the electorate doesn't choose party leaders or prime ministers.

gulliver, no answer from you is no surprise.
// And of course the Boundary changes will be law by the time of the Cons Conference, //

unlikely. the boundary commission won't send their recommendations to parliament until 1st July....

and, as you've already told us, after the summer recess Parliament won't sit until after the conference season this year.

Haaaa! That’s it! Your cover is blown, Gulliver! You’re Boris’s grandma!

Naomi 17.08 This is not the joke section Naomi . Please try to stay on topic.
This coming snap election maybe a joke to you , but it will be the future for most Brits . Do try to be serious about the future of Great Britain, Perleease.
Gulliver, there is no topic. Your OP is a product of your imagination.
gulliver you only have yourself to blame if the news section has become the joke section.
"Perleease."

hahaha, thats not the way the word is used online, you're clueless..
youv'e failed miserably yet again...your're far too old for this sort of thing..when it comes to digging holes you make the deepest
i stand by what i wrote naomi. i think i am correct.
i notice incidentally that many of bazwillrun’s contributions are nothing but personal attacks on gulliver… do you have any thoughts on this as a moderator naomi?
I agree with Tora - This just won’t happen.
The Tories have nothing to gain from an election now.
Thatcher called a snap election after defeating the Argies, but the voting public tends to see through being prodded to vote early when they don’t want to.
It seems like a pointless thing to be arguing about. The next election will be when the law says it has to be, unless between now and then some miracle happens to make the Tories more popular. In which case the govt will call one.

One of these events will happen before this year is finished.
The Tories will give Sunak the chop and choose their Fourth PM. ....Or there will be a GE and the whole of the Tory party will get the chop....Place your bets Now .
Gully is not the only one that thinks there may be a snap election – this guy gives a rational explanation for such an event.

er are you sure about that one?
