Most definitely. He was warned from the onset that the Met Royalty Protection was not up for hire. He has caught the U.S. litigation disease and should have to pay when it doesn’t go his way. Not the British tax payer who he eschewed .
Are they entitled to ? Surely the rules regarding what it should cost for an individual citizen to seek justice are already defined somewhere.
Yes.
Judicial reviews are extremely important and should be available to everyone who needs to challenge a decision made by the government or other public body. The system must be accountable and be seen to be accountable.
I would not want anyone to be deterred from applying for a judicial review because of costs and affordability but costs are allowed to be recouped and in this case I think it is reasonable to do so. Not just because Harry can afford it but because there was such little chance of his case being successful.
It would not be setting a precedent.

"It is important to note that in Judicial Review proceedings, if your case is not successful, then in addition to paying our costs, the barrister’s costs (see below) and the court fees (see below), it is likely that the Court will order you to pay the Home Office’s legal costs (which, again very roughly, may be a similar amount to your own legal costs incurred)"

Why did Barry close the other thread as I was typing an answer...Barry that was about Boris not Harry so wasn't duplicate. Read it again
Question Author
Barry, although the title has been copied, the thread you closed as a duplicate isn't a duplicate. This is about Prince Harry - the closed one is about Boris Johnson.

Sorry, cross-posted, bob.
And looks like my sensible answer was removed
I realised my error straight away and re-opened it, I reported myself for gross stupidity. Apologies to all
bob, I did not remove your post
Question Author
I'll pass on that one, bob, but the editor can replace it if you ask.
Question Author
barry, you didn't need to report yourself for making a mistake- but you made me laugh. :o)
Ik Barry... i typed and submitted an answer either just before or just after thread was closed.
It's still closed for me
Try again, bob

Yes, they should reclaim everything from the whining talent vacuum.

Utterly pathetic that some hold him as untouchable, a sacred cow even, because they believe his granny was some kind of supreme being.

And they believe she was his granny.
The world may be waking up though.

Make Harry pay, he has enough millions.
Further to Retrocop’s post (above) - the MET police explained why they should not provide police protection to Prince Harry in a Private Eye article (below).

Senior MET police officers have welcomed a court ruling that Prince Harry cannot pay for police protection while in the UK.

‘Traditionally the only private citizens allowed to pay for police protection are gangsters and criminals. That’s the way the MET has always worked.’ said a Detective Constable pocketing a suspicious brown envelope containing £45,000.

‘So unless Harry can show he is bringing £3m of cocaine and guns onto a deserted beach near Dover at 3am next Tuesday, I’m afraid we can’t help him.’
//So unless Harry can show he is bringing £3m of cocaine and guns onto a deserted beach near Dover at 3am next Tuesday, I’m afraid we can’t help him.’//

That load of nonsense from PE and its fan does Harry no favours at all considering his admission of substance abuse and possible Visa irregularities that have yet to be proved in a Federal Court.
