I’d have more respect for some of these measures if this was admitted.
Similarly Rwanda, aside from the human rights question: its big advantage is taking the pressure off the authorities in this country. So the Home Secretary should stop saying it’ll “stop the boats” when there is no evidence or proof that that will be the case - indeed it’s a bit if an own goal as the implication is that Rwanda is not a very attraction proposition.
So when people say “what would you do” I’d reply that I’d stop pretending that I’ve got a magic bullet.
But I’m not a politician.
Trouble is, as a politician, when your magic bullet turns out to be a peashooter you are ultimately no better off

good points ickeria. The pledge was "We will pass new laws to stop small boats, making sure that if you come to this country illegally, you are detained and swiftly removed."
Noone surely can disagree we want to stop he boats as we need to control who comes in and there also killing people and making profits for criminals... but its a pledge thats going to be very hard for anyone to deliver as so many want it to fail and am sure his going to be judged a failure on this by election time.

really think the boats would stop if we had a processing centre in France? What about the ones... the majority... who wouldnt suceeed with an asylum claim as they have no case... there allready in a safe country. Has he worked out how many staff would be needed, , where theyd be housed while claims processed, would France allow it.
The implication is that Rwanda is proving difficult to get started and a more immediate way of easing pressure is needed in the meantime; not that it's not a very attraction proposition.
The problem with the boat idea is that it went off half cocked, apparently no one checked if anywhere was ok with the boats anchoring off their coast. It is no long term deterrent anyway, just alternative temporary accommodation.

let some of them in as we down here need fruit/flower/veg pickers as well as finishing off the A30 bypass and st Austell spur - both way behind target. aid with caravans but none of the frills of the proposed camps and it would break them up into smaller units. Those who dont want to work send to the Falklands/south Georgia and if Brussels starts to moan on behalk of the Argies bus them over there to Belgium and leave them there for the locals/Frogs and the rest to sort out.
No video, no one watches them but here’s my post from yesterday Hymie ,did you see it?

Legal immigration, especially seasonal workers, are already allowed, and more visas etc. are being made available. We should not let any illegal economic migrants, falsely claiming to be refugees or asylum seekers from France, or other safe country, stay. No amnesties, ever.
In reality we are already too crowded, any permanent incomers need to be on a one out one in basis to prevent the situation worsening.

Send them to the Falklands and you can guarantee they'll vote to be part of Argentina at the next referendum on the subject. It is a mistake to allow disloyal individuals into an area which another country is keen on stealing. Just look at the Ukraine territory taken by Russia using the excuse that the population they bussed in, in the past, want to be Russian again really.
