After my colleague died of Legionnaires, we were told that when you go to a hotel you should turn the shower on and at the hottest temp, get out of the bathroom and let it run for a couple of minutes. If there is good aircon and the mist has gone, then you go in and have your shower. The problem can be when the shower hasn't been used for a while. My colleague was a lovely...

no-one will be hospitalised. the building i work in has legionella found in the water tanks about every 2 months, it gets chlorinated and then re-opened which is what i guess will happen here. Im not sure if im a bleeding heart if i say if anyone does get legionairres disease (unlikely) i hope they get treated

I have always been concerned what else travels with them from their CV country’s of origin. TB from Asia, AIDS from S. Africa and Polio from Pakistan and surrounds. It makes you wonder when NHS hospitals have to build special wings to accommodate these disease carriers which we thought we had eradicated years ago?
Question Author
Retro, it’s bound to happen
The people inhabiting the boat haven’t ‘brought’ anything with them. Legionella starts in water which stagnates. It sounds to me, having some construction industry experience, that the water system on board the boat did not have a chlorinate flush carried out. Here, educate yourselves:

My colleague was a lovely guy and he was 42 when he died. It was kidney failure from the illness that did for him at the end.
Hmmm, well spotted at 17.15 Zacs.

I suspect that European invaders were responsible for far more deaths in the invaded countries (e.g. South America) than modern travellers. We gave them colds and flu and all sorts of filth they had never met before. But we were European and civilised and pale of skin and so that was ok.
^^^why are you so ashamed of your colour? That’s weird.
