Even though, without a single shadow of a doubt, Thatcher was the greatest PM this country had seen in my lifetime, there’s people on this board who inexplicably refer to her as being evil.

Yes , they did but I’d say being in the heart of a mining community seeing family’s torn apart under her Premiership and seeing the fights take place , it was ingrained in me to dislike her, I look back at times and know as I’m a lot older , who the ‘baddies’ it was the militants and now I admire her for her stand against them and their strikes, I suppose I always have had a hidden respect for the woman

Well Torax3 does all the time. And it isn’t really true.
Labour closed a lot of pits 74-79 an also some after 1997.
The Conservatives closed a lot of pits under a brief reign of Margaret Thatcher, with nothing to replace them. She denied that was their was a hit list of pits, but after the strike was beaten, scores of pits were closed.
Anyone claiming Thatcher underperformed on crushing the NUM is belittling her achievement.
