According to Private Eye the Tories are publishing propaganda masquerading as local newspapers with convincing looking mastheads including the titles; Wolverhampton Chronicle, Dudley Chronicle and Sandwell Chronicle.
Unfortunately a local newspaper publisher owns the trademark to those titles, and the Tories had to issue a grovelling apology.

When a political party is ashamed to be associated with their own publications – how can they expect people to vote for them?

Is Private Eye the only publication that's aware of this .... apart from Wolverhampton Chronicle, Dudley Chronicle and Sandwell Chronicle... or have they exposed this skulduggery too?
Byline Times have extensively covered the story.

The pretend newspapers, ofter named after defunct local newspapers, are sent out by local Tory candidates. The ‘news’ in them is straight from Tory HQ.
Bartley Green Times here, but it's not exactly hard to tell what it is... I doubt anyone will be fooled by it. The Midlanders are smarter than they sound
Same up here in Scotland,Hymie, where the SNP are pouring tax-payers money into an unread comic called The National. What is it with these nationalists.
The National is NOT funded in any way by the SNP, it is owned by NewQuest.
// Newsquest Media Group Limited is the second largest publisher of regional and local newspapers in the United Kingdom. It is owned by the American mass media holding company Gannett. It has 205 brands across the UK, publishing online and in print (165 newspaper brands and 40 magazine brands) and reaches 28 million visitors a month online and 6.5 million readers a week in print. Based in London, Newsquest employs a total of more than 5,500 people across the UK. It also has a specialist arm that publishes both commercial and business-to-business (B2B) titles such as Insurance Times and Boxing News. //
Aye,right,Gromit. The National is much a propaganda mouthpiece for the nationalists up here in Scotland as the Daily Mail is a propaganda mouthpiece for the nationalists down in England. Not like you defending nationalism Gromit. You feeling ok?
I am defending the truth. You told a lie, and I corrected that.
The Nationalist is published by an independent publisher and is aimed at Nationalists. They spotted a niche in the newspaper market, and produced a paper to cater for that readership. Straight forward commercial decision.
The National must be running at a massive loss,Gromit.I wonder who is covering this loss?
Newsquest are.
They might think running at a loss is worth it, if the small number of people who read it are the same people running the country.
You can buy popularity, but influence is priceless.
"Newsquest are"....must have more money than sense pouring money into this propaganda rag?
Newsquest are a commercial outfit. If it was losing money they would close it down. They are running a business, not a charity.
how is this news or unpublished - Boris ( st Boris to some) was a damned liar ad his successors are too
@14.12.Perhaps.Also perhaps that might be where the missing £600,000 from the SNPs accounts have disappeared into.Trying to prop up the Scottish version of Goebells trash writing.
