With "Well over 7,000 immigrants arriving on the small island in the past 5 days" alone, are we as a generation, witnessing the death of Europe?

\\Under current EU asylum law, application procedures must be filed in the state where the asylum-seeker first sets foot on EU soil. Those who move on to another member state without permission can be returned to the state where they first entered the bloc. //

They are roaming around Europe unhindered thanks to the EU  and its porous borders

Blimey...have ABers only just come across this story?

This is just this week's AB news, roy.  I'm pretty sure we've done it before with other Mediterranean islands.

I wasn't hitherto unacquainted with the migrant crisis, Roy, but the sheer extent of the Lampedusa invasion in the last week is shocking.

Of course many will have their hearts set on the UK where the streets are allegedly paved with gold and anyone who votes for Labour in the next GE will be facilitating the ruination of our country by giving Sir Smarmy carte blanche to just import the third world en masse.

Khandro, do you mean the death of Europe as a collection of mainly white colonialist former empire creating invasionists?
I'm afraid we can't really take the moral high ground given our collective pasts.
Maybe it's payback time?

11.06.None of these new migrants will be allowed into the UK .Because Britain has taken back control of it's own Borders since Brexit,or had you forgotten.

If you want to see "swamped", try Derna in Libya ...

No Europe is coping badly with population shifts.

As bad old colonialism gets quite rightly kicked out, and is replaced by glorious maxist liberation by Wagner group, the  liberated lucky peoples ( 25% in Zim) are moving north.

and the 'haves' are not coping

Derna? it is not ther-na

I was thinking of Loobie - East and West govts, and the people of Derna aksed if any of their taxes or oil money wd go to mend the dam

and were told: no the money is  going into our pockets!

Lucky liberated libyans

Italian PM was to impose restrictions to maritime traffic between Africa and Italy, especially the island but the report I read says it wouldn't be popular with Germany or France. Why is that?

a collection of mainly white colonialist former empire creating invasionists?

I think he probably is

the standard of living in Zim is now lower than it was in the last years before glorious liberation ( 1967)

Maydup, 11.30.  Good question.  Anyone?

germany refusing to take any more.

There has to be a European wide strategy to deal with the situation. Oh dear, shame we don't have a seat at the table.
