Clearly "‘Our research shows voters want to cut meat consumption. Labour policy must reflect this’" - is a thinly veiled intention to tax meat. They know that most veggie types are lefties anyway so they feel safe with this policy.

That article is from the blog Labourlist. They are no affiliated in any way with the Labour Party.

Labourlist could implore the Labour Party to cut meat consumption, but that's all. It's like a Conservative blogger imploring the government to kick start the economy by giving everyone a free Ford Fiesta at the age of 18.

Also - it's not a thinly-veiled intention to tax meat. It could be a proposal to make meat alterbatives much cheaper.

But whatever - you've got the wrong end of the stick.

In fact, you've got the wrong stick completely. The stick you want is on the back seat of a Volvo going up the M4.

Sounds like they need to dig deeper into their research. Maybe the folk they asked are hoping to eat less of everything. 

 

In any case they didn't suggest those polled asked to be a cash cow for more tax. So how will policy reflect their questionable conclusions ?

And they suggest labour policy should adopt it.

So how would they achieve it? As tax is most often used by politicans to control the masses its not a great leap forward to suggest this might be a way surely?

It's a lie to say that the PM has blocked move to implement it. It's wrong to believe even for a second that this is Labour Party policy.

Labourlist is not affiliated or endorsed by the Labour Party.

If you had a blog where you suggested that the winter fuel allowance should be means tested (which it should), the government can't say it's blocked those proposals - because you have no power to implment them.

Most people eat too much meat anyway, but I don't think it should be taxed as it would target the poorer members of society most.                                                                                I think halal meat should be banned though, and the intensive farming of chickens and pigs too.

In fact the whole manner in which animals are treated needs to be overhauled (I do eat meat myself).

Labour List is a publication which is independent of the Labour Party. 
The fact that doctors say we should not eat so much meat is a health issue not a taxation issue.

Taxing meat to earn revenue has never been Labour Party policy.  Speading a mistruth that Starmer plans to do that shows hoe desperate the Conservatives are, and how infested thety are with conspiracy theorist twonks.

^^ You should just see the size of the portions of meat you are given in the restaurants in this part of the world, & I never see any left uneaten.

We usually ask for a 'doggie box'
