Dorries claims the Tories are trying to block publication of her book about the downfall of Boris Johnson. The former Culture secretary claims the Cabinet office is trying to block the  Nov 9th release after she refused to send a copy to the department. I do not need to buy a book to tell me what caused The downfall of Pinocchio.

If they're sure they've been honest in their treatment of Boris, they shouldn't have a problem ... should they.

But are we sure sure that she's been honest about their 'treatment of Boris'?

Boris and Dorries were both treated in accordance with the usual political rules and regulations, and they should pipe down and accept that.

Good way to drum up a bit of pre-publication publicity..

//they should pipe down //

That - doubtless - is the hope.  Scary stuff for back-stabbers.  ;o)

Question Author

I think Nadine and Boris were messing with eachother.

She's a sad case, she really is.

Surely they can't block publication of a book unless it breaches the official secrets act. In which case they'd be doing her a favour, keeping her out of prison.

.

If they're sure they've been honest in their treatment of Boris, they shouldn't have a problem ... should they.  No, complete non sequitur - being beastly to Boris-Woris is NOT a reason to ban it. He might have to sue - er in personam.

Nadine said: "I took extensive and exhaustive legal advice over the issue of the Radcliffe Rules." PP writes I am not sure if these have the force of law.

Peter Wright's book is so long ago, that I cant remember under what law they banned it - those proceedings were marred by the then Att-Gen sensing that a cabinet member had perjured himself ( economical with the truth)

Oh, for the sixties, when everyone told the truth over Profumo

Nigel West who I was at  school with printed a pot-boiler after Peter Wright ructions

and was DESPERATE it be banned - it  wasnt

worth a million in sales if it had been ....

Peter Wright case ( spycatcher) - the australian judgement is here

http://www8.austlii.edu.au/cgi-bin/viewdoc/au/cases/cth/HCA/1988/25.html

In any case, I posit ( I havent posited for a few months),

The appellant claimed that he was entitled to the relief sought on the footing that the proposed publication of Spycatcher amounted to a breach of fiduciary duty, a breach of the equitable duty of confidence or, alternatively, a breach of a contractual obligation of confidence on Mr Wright's part, the alleged breach in each instance being of a duty or obligation owed by Mr Wright to the United Kingdom Government.

big hoolie about even if there were a breaches ( or indeed breaches), should  they be enforced in Oz?

I've preordered it just in case it's removed from sale after publication ha. To be honest when I first saw it I was surprised that such a book could exist if it's even half as "explosive" as its blurb (it probably won't be.) If the powers that be do ban it or demand parts are removed, it'll pretty much prove ol' Nads right anyway. Damned if they do etc...

Ol' Nads is Carrie's pet name for Bozza.

I deny all allegations ;)

Or the downfall of Wee Burney up here in Scotland, gulliver.Being a pair of uncaring bastrads for a start.

The Mail on Sunday's in a froth about it....

Waterstones has taken my money so looks like I'll be getting the book they tried to "ban"!

I wonder how much she lifted from Wikipedia!
