How can Cameron serve as Foreign Secretary ,when he is no longer an MP . Maybe the jobs for the Tory Boys kicks in here.

He's been made an instant peer, which is apparently above board.

I bet Nadine Dorries is a bit peeved.

15:30, Once again your "intellect" is revealed.  Bottler did it with the Prince of Darkness me old china. Nothing new.

Cameron didn't invent Brexit. All sane citizens wanted out of the EU ages before he became PM. He merely allowed the majority to "speak"; as it should be in every nation that likes to claim it is a democracy.

Taking Steve Barclay off Health was a big mistake as he was pushing things along, but getting extra staff and pay sorted but these things dont happen overnight. Sending him to environment is a slap in the face.

OG @ 15.57 "All sane Citizens wanted out of the EU". And now OG after regretting what they voted for ... Because they did not know  what they were voting for.. because they listened to greedy Tory Mps .These same sane Citizens want to rejoin. OK.

They sure don't. But do enjoy your fantasy.

Cameron didn't "invent" Brexit.

You don't have to be an MP or even a Lord as far as I know to be a minister. Not even PM

Will Boris be the next to darken the steps of Downing St. Knowing that his old school mate David ...has got a foot in the Front Door.

Rishi ought to be watching his back.  The Return of Call me Dave ,and Boris standing in the wings.!.. As Dave once said We are all in this together...You just bet they are not.

Boris is ready to return - as Minister of Gulliver

// You don't have to be an MP or even a Lord as far as I know to be a minister. Not even PM //

as a peer, is he allowed in the Commons? if not, how would he answer to parliament when it all goes wrong?

He's not allowed in the Commons no. I'd imagine his deputy will speak for him

Correct mushroom, there have been plenty of Lords in the Cabinet - remember Lord Carrington for example.

In Lord Cameron's case, he could be yanked into see the Foreign Affairs Committee and there are the opposition benches in the other Hoose....

This looks like the revenge of the centre ground. Sunak had to do something: it may ultimately not save the Tories from electoral defeat but they couldn't carry on as they were. I'd say the Cabinet competency level has gone up. Sunak looked like decent but weak PM who could it would not assert his authority. He finally has done so and it won't do him any harm.

As untitled said @ 09.37.. Cameron has maintained a low profile since he became emboiled in the scandal a couple of years ago with Greensill and walked off with £7 million . That makes him a TTT

....Typical.. Tory..Traitor And now he has returned to the Gravy train . He soon spent that £7 mill .

Ich, I disagree with you.  I think this will do the government great harm.  After the huge majority Boris won and his leadership through covid and Brexit - an unprecedented workload for any prime minister - I don't think many Tory voters were happy with the way he was treated or with the resulting mayhem.  I think few Tory voters appreciated Cameron scuttling off at short notice when the referendum didn't go his way and his appointment together with Suella's enforced departure for saying what a lot of people are thinking I believe could be the final nail in the coffin.  If this government is determined to abandon the country to the horrors of a Starmer administration it's going the right way about it.

David Cameron has always been a firm favourite of us left-wing Remainers on this site.Could we not get him as PM again instead of Dishy Rishi?

Well if you refuse to vote for then they won't help keep Starmer's out :-)

Rory Stewart commented on Tortoise that it'll make Sunak look "big" having an ex-PM in the role of Foreign Secretary. I couldn't agree more. In the other hand the spectre of Geeensill lobbying may rear its ugly head. James Cleverly to my surprise did well as Foreign Secretary. I think he'll be a good replacement. Plainly not everyone will be happy but you can't be a proper leader and not pee some people off. It's something Boris Johnson failed to do,

I'm not sure I want to keep Starmer out any more, ich.  This government deserves all it gets.  I'm not sure the electorate does though.
